The
Loire region is famous for its chateaux, its vineyards and for
its beautiful landscapes of green hills rolling into the Loire
river.

river, west of France, from the Atlantic Ocean to the mountains of
Massif Central

Places
to visit : The most prestigious chateaux are Chateau
of Chambord, Chateau of Chenonceau, Azay le Rideau. To the east
of the Loire region, many spectacular cathedrals worth the visit
in Chartres, Bourges. The best architecture can also be seen in the
lovely villages of the Loire valley : Montrèsor, Candes Saint
Martin, Montsoreau, Gargilesse and countless other villages.
Food
and wine : The Loire region has a lot to offer and some
of the best restaurants in the country are located in the Loire
valley. Many farms provide meat and poultry, vegetables, and
fruits. 20% of apples and pears in
France come from the Loire region. Loire is also a region of
huge forest. Game such as deer and boar are served during the
hunting season. The main local food product here is the goat
cheese. The most famous are Crottin de Chavignol in Poitou and
Valencay with its pyramid shape. The Loire Valley hosts some
of the best dry white wines in France. Sancerre and Pouilly Fumé
are among the best.
